It all started with an invitation to a Mormon New Year's Eve party (and neither of them were/are Mormon). On a whim, Ashlyn asked the guy she saw at a friend's party to be her date. Unbeknownst to them, but to their luck, Mormons liked slow dances. Pushed together by their friends, it was the first time they grasped onto each other's hands and looked into each other's eyes. A sweaty but sweet ice breaker. As much as they tried to muffle it as butterflies or a one-hit-wonder party, a spark started that New Year's Eve. They were then each other's dates to "woco" and prom. Maybe the slow dances together weren't that bad.... She watched him on the track, and he watched her on the stage. And from that point forward, they cherished each other's passions and uplifted each other in whatever joys or achievements popped up. They learned how to handle the rollercoaster of life and how to unravel the threads of who they were both meant to be. Through Saturday coffees, teacher duties, a thesis defense, Theater in the Park, calculus classes, schol-hall events, days on the lake, pizza and movie dates.... through both trials and triumphs, Ashlyn and Matthew's love for each other has been nourished. These 6 years have taken them to this chapter of life, and they are happy to make it officially official.
